Powerglide transmission will not go into any gear. Fluid level is correct. Any suggestions on what to inspect first.

Car was sitting in garage. Started it up pulled out and parked it in driveway. Later that day started it up and would not go into any gear. Had to push it back in garage.

Does it even attempt to move? Can you feel it engage when placed in gear at all or is it just like you are sitting in neutral?

Was anything done to it lately?
Trans service,overhaul,etc?

From the last owner. Did some engine work, Gaskets, re-tuned carb, new oil pan, flushed radiator all about 6 months ago. I have had the car a couple of months now.

Check and see if the flexplate to convertor bolt's are installed.
Cheap and easy place to start.

Band broke ,servo ,convertor low on fluid or broke ,plugged/damaged filter ,front pump quit.

Thanks for your help. Should i stick with the transmission and have it rebuilt or should I or can I replace it with something different. The car has 327 engine which still start up and sounds great (to me at least)

What's the rest of the vehicle -engine combo ,trans we know about ,rear gear?
Your intended use -street ,strip ,combo ,cruise?
Considered an OD trans like a 200r4?

The car all around is pretty much all original. I guess more of a cruiser but would like for it to get up and go when the light turns green if needed. No strip.

IMHO, aftermarket pump gears in a rebuilt transmission (?) the drive gear is split or lost its drive tangs.

What's the budget? Low, fix the Glide. High, buy a 200 4R.

A 200 4r will it go right on to the current 327 and car? Will any kind of modifications need to be done?
