Where is a good place to find a 2 bbl carb for 71 250 6 cyl? I don't want/need an expensive Holley.
I have an original 1 bbl, but would like to improve a little. I would like to find something new, NOS, if I could. I want something correct.
I would also like to find a Canadian web site - us Canucks get burned at the border!

JT, long time no see! Anyway, the Chevy 250 L6 came with a 2-barrel from the factory from '80 - '84, but at that point they were only used on the 1/2 ton trucks. Chevy also used a staged 2-barrel on the Vegas that would be a good bet, but since you are in the rust belt forget it. ALL Vegas were scrapped more than 20 years ago. I have no idea if they are still available, but Holley made a 390-cfm 2-barrel that would be well suted to your application.

You couldn't help me find a Holley part number? I tried to make sense of the Holley site. I guess I'd have to go to Canadian Tire to get it? I do have a 20% off at CarQuest. Or even a GM part number would be brilliant, if I could get my dealer to find a correct one? Would be foolishness to try to fit a 4-bbl off a 79 305? I can't imagine the machining cost of the adapter ;)

Yeah, I've been a bit on the quiet side. Making news sites, new clients, 18-month old toddler, tenure at the College. And I didn't driver her much this year. Winter has started and I'm thinking about what I want to do in the spring.

I didn't know Québec was any worse than Ontario ;) - that said, the last time I saw a Vega was 20 years ago, (Geez I'm getting old), t*** up in a ditch with 35,000 on it. They must have been the first aluminium motors? They did not last long. Of course, the fender & firewall insulation made great, humid spots for the rusties to thrive. Won't find any in NFLD, fer sure. That said, I saw an operating 77 Monza wagon (same car with a name change) last year down around Mansonville.

Why not get a 4 barrel intake for the 6 cylinder? I think the company is clifford research that makes them. also the model number for the progressive 2 barrel is i think the model 5200 they usedthem on pintos vegas and sold them as aftermarket, I bought one for my 77 datsun PU.

I was looking at that. It's State-side. Not to bash, but have had bad experiences buying stuff, getting gouged at the Canadian border, only to find it was a BAd fit or worse. Cost too much to return. Now, I take what I learn to CarQuest and ask to see what they can get in or advise. They do have an adaptor. Will it fit a stock intake? That is my qualm, unless I buy their intake manifold. In the end, how far do I go :)?
Good idea. Thanks! I will ask around tomorrow.
