I took possession early this year of a "close to pristine" '67 El Camino matching numbers L79. I've not done much to it, just a couple little things. I plan to honor the originality but upgrade a few things. So far I'm really enjoying the El Camino around town, especially the 4 speed. I sold a Road King & a VROD (I got tired of Harley) to make room in the garage but I'm keeping my '67 Triumph & '74 Norton which have both found themselves in the back of the El Camino a time or two. I have an exhaust leak at the heat riser & my closest buds are telling me to just get a set of Hooker Headers & kill two birds with one stone. Is there going to be a special setup for an L79 or will I be able to order engine parts such as headers for a 327? I'm thinking I will eventually upgrade suspension, steering, maybe ignition & carb.

In answer to your question, 327 headers. The difference in the heads is intake valve size if they are the original heads.

OK, another question. I apparently have an exhaust leak at the heat riser which probably is a seal or donut. Can't I just repair that & maintain the old butterfly ? I can't find any data or pictures on that. It doesn't seem to be a terribly hard thing to solve & stay stock. Thoughts?
