I've been in love with GM 65-67 A-body muscle cars since attending high school in the mid 80's just north of Detroit. Back then plenty of fast cars were still on the streets and the pavement on my high school parking lot was protected from harsh Michigan winters by a thick layer of rubber.
Since high school I've worked hard and saved money keeping my eye on the prize; buying my very own muscle car.
I stopped by a local shop every few months checking out the inventory. Then came the day came that I dropped by on a whim and found the car of my dreams - a 1967 Chevelle SS.
I went home, told my wife I found THE car, wiped away a few tears, drove back and bought it.
No questions asked.
Simple as that.
I was lucky to buy it from a reputable dealer that doesn't sell junk, works on what they sell and doesn't spit polish cars just to get a few more bucks out of people. Heck, they even advised me on everything from tips on getting the title transferred to giving me a contact for vintage tags (who by the way - pulled off to the side of the road on his way to Carlisle to get my info. Once he set up his tent, he went over to the local post office and mailed me the tags. I had them in my hands 3 days after I bought the car).
I can't go on a short cruise without getting smiles and thumbs up every time. One old dude actually removed his hat and took a bow when I drove by! I love doing research on my Chevelle. I thought I knew a lot but I'm absolutely fascinated with all the details I've learned. Man this car is FAST. Man this car is LOUD. No disrespect intended to the late model Mustang/Camaro/Challenger/etc. fans but those cars will never be as fun! My wife's happy because I'm never missing. I'm just in the garage. I'm already creating memories with my boys. They're little enough that they'll never know the day when I didn't have "Daddy's Hot Rod". They're already helping me work on her and you can't beat that.
Can't tell you how many hours I've already spent on Chevelles.com doing research. I've had the car almost a year now and thanks to your support, I've replaced the radiator, tracked down a short in the wiring, and am halfway through resolving a vibration in the rear-end that surfaced recently (in no part due to any of the "accidental" burnouts I've experienced while learning to drive a big block
).
So thanks to everyone here for helping me make a dream come true.
