I read where 1st generation camaro disc brakes, spindle and all, are a direct bolt on for my 65 Malibu. the only difference is the pitman arm. So, are the ball joints the same AND, what pitman arm do you use?

I assume you use the steering arm off of the 65? Ball joints are the same?
The 65 ball joints will fit the Camaro spindle.
You must use the 65 steering arm as the Chevelle is front steer and Camaro is rear steer.

Installed 68 Z28 front disks on my 65 in 1970.
The Camaro dual piston calipers are fairly rare and parts/kits and brakes pads may be hard to find.
For years I bought Corvette pad and modified them to fit.
