I bought my wife an '89 with a 4cyl. Was an ok commuter car, but that was it. It had the electric windows and locks and a/c options and that was it. No frills car that only lasted 3 year before it started having mechanical issues and the paint peeling. We dumped it and never bought another GM car or SUV.

With 135 ground pounding HP you need a heavy duty suspension to hold it on the road;).
because you don't dare slow down for any curves, or it'll take forever to get back up to speed.

My wife had one when we started dating. Was our marriage car too. Had a baby seat in it some months later.
Looked like this one but had some stylish 14" Keystone wheels, sunroof, LeBra, and a luggage rack! I shamelessly stuck on an F41 emblem on the trunk, next to the 2.0.

we had a 87 cavalier too. painted white, limo black tint all around, stuck some pontiac alloy wheels on it with a black bra. it was actually a very reliable car. the grill reminded my of the 85 monte Carlo ss. jim

My wife had one too. After it started falling apart, I parked it next to a field out back and let it go back to the earth where it belonged. Who would have guessed it was destined to become a classic.

That looks like an 82. Those things had no power, especially the automatic. My sister bought one new with no A/C, and lived in Pittsburgh, thing could barely climb the hills.

First new car for me and my wife was a 1984 Cavalier we ordered for her. Type 10 2 door, red and silver, 5 speed, F41, sunroof.
Sunroof leaked, firestone tires wore horrible. But it was a fun little good handling car.
And our previous small car was a LeCar, so it seemed quick.
At the time we had a manual 3 speed Jeep CJ7, a 4 speed 67 Impala SS 327, a 5 speed cavalier, and a 6 speed Kawasaki GPZ 550. A year later kids started and most were sold!
Good times in the 1980’s!
