Where do I connect power to the electric choke. It has just one wire and it says 12v ground making this confusing. Here are a couple of pictures. What is confusing is that the wire is a ground wire on it. How do I power it to work. Anyone have a answer to this problem.

There are actually 2 wire, one is attached to the carb body, that is ground. The wire in your hand is for power, there are many ways to hook it up from simply finding a keyed 12v source to using an oil pressure switch, relays and an extra fuse.

The pink wire in the picture is a 12v wire not sure how to connect it though. That wire I was told to plug in to the fire wall. So on the other side of the firewall would that be the place for the fuse then. The pink wire it seems to be slightly thicker in size to the black wire.

run a 14 or 16 gauge wire from the IGN terminal in the fusebox out to the funny spade terminal on the carb. The ground is internal through the carb body, no wire needed. You can buy the weirdball terminal that fits the equally weird male spade terminal. try https://quadrajetparts.com/pigtail-....html?osCsid=705a946c0d9ee3b1983c3559e257be61

If it doesn't work check that there's no gasket under the black cap choke. That can interfere with grounding.

That pink wire does have 12v ignition on it that is in the picture near the brake booster. It is plenty long enough to reach the carb. Then I can connect the pink to black wires together, then plug into the electric choke. Would that be correct.
yes!

You can alternatively use the power feed form the wiper motor I suppose. ( I tapped the IGN + wire)

Most of those era cars had a choke fuse in the fuse block. The fuse was hot in the ignition on position only. The wire then continued in the engine compartment as a pink 14 gauge over to a 3 prong oil pressure switch so that the power to the choke was only active with the engine running. This kept the choke from heating up during key on engine off conditions.

The electric choke works (opens) from 'heat' supplied by electricity (duh 😀). 'Cold' the choke is closed'. As it heats up from the ignition being 'on', it 'opens'. It is 'timed'; not temperature controlled.

So, any 12v 'keyed' (ignition on) source will operate it. DO NOT use an engine ignition source. Tapping into the wiper motor is as good a source as any.
