I am thinking about converting my non-a/c 73 el camino to a/c. I would like to know if changing the dash to an 73 a/c dash and getting an a/c service to install a/c is a do-able project? The dash conversion is the main area of concern.

It would be a costly proposition to try and get someone to install all the original factory components and do the modifications necessary to turn your car into a "Factory air" car. You might want to look into a unit from Vintage Air or one of the other retrofit companies that could supply you with an entire kit that would easily install in your car and then do the dashboard modifications that would make it look "factory"
