I am looking for a replacement motor for my 1971 Concours tail gate power window. The one in the car works fairly well, but I would like to replace it before it fails. Any after market motors and suitable replacement or subsitutions?

Why not just have yours rebuilt? I took the motor from my '65 to a shop that repairs electrical motors, pool motors, etc. on thursday and picked it up today and the guy charged me $35. He even got all the rust off of the housing and repainted it black. Something to check into.

i think it does too. i have done it yet, but i know you have to take the motor off of the cast metal transmission part with the big gear wheel from your old motor and replace just the black electric motor. and the new motor aint that cheep and i am not sure and even have a xneeky suspision that the electricle plug is different where it plugs into the harness.

well i just bought the motor that several places said that it was and it was $80. well it doesnt look mutch like the right one at all. the electric plug outlet is on the wrong side and there is a threaded end sticking out and the long screws look to be fewer and in different spaces. all the books and parts places say a1cardone motor 4220. the cheepest i found was at advanced auto parts and they wanted a core charge. i dont have a motor that doesnt work, i hate to pull a good one apart to see if i can make it work, but i might. i would like to have a good fix for this. maybe offer a rebuild service for it.
oh by the way i have replacement tailgate window regulator rollerer. you know the plastic roller at each end that goes into the window horizontal track.

I think I just ordered one for a 72 wagon. Think they showed 2 #'s took mine in and they ordered both. Took the one that looked like mine. It's at the trim shop now, I'll look at it when I get it back and see if there's a #. Don't remember it being real hard to put in...

Pete, is that the burb one? mine doesn't look anything like that. I just ordered one from O'rielly's #4220, the body is just like mine but has a threaded cap/end on it. I took it off and the shaft is different than mine, mine has a worm gear end on it and fits into the head with a large gear on it. The guy is ordering an other one to see if boxed wrong. His book says fits 69-72 I think....
