I removed the package tray to install some 6x9s and the metal tray has some odd cutouts. metal obstructs the openings on the driver side...substantially. The passenger just has a bar through the middle, no big deal. The driver side is very obstructed. I guess I am going to cut out with a dremel. Anybody else encountered this issue? how did you tackle it?

My '72 had what appeared to be the factory speakers installed when I bought the car. Those braces were in place but the factory ones speakers installed from the bottom and held in place by bolts and nuts. Most people do what you are talking about, cutting the brace out.
