I finished glass beading all of my parts and I am getting ready to ship them to the plater to be replated. Was the hood striker that bolts to the hood, phosphate plated as an assembly or was the plate that bolts to the hood, striker, and jam nut plated individually?

I am trying to decide if the jam nut for the striker should be phosphate to match the striker or clear zinc. I would assume the striker was assembled after plating so the jam nut should be a clear zinc with the striker and the plate being dark phosphate but I'm not sure.

The plater tells me the darker phosphate is a manganese phosphate and I plan on doing this type of plating on the hood plate, striker, and hood latch. The rest of the parts will get gray phosphate.

That looks nice Luis. The reason I was thinking of having the jam nut plated a different color is because most of the original nuts that I have found on my car were a dull silver color (probably cadmium plated) originally and clear zinc is close to that.

What ever you do make sure you oil the part immediately after it has been phosphated, if not, it will rust. My hinges, latch, and striker are drenched in oil since it will be a while before they go on the car.

Just got my parts back from the plater. I think they did a great job. Quick turn around and the price was good too.

Ask for Cory or Randy. They will treat you right and take good care of your parts!
