I'm detailing my motor for installation. Trimming the excess gasket and RTV off of the intake around the heads for crisp lines.

I trimmed the gasket off between the 4 and 6 cylinders and noticed an open space on the head...

I believe it's a heat riser but don't want to leave it uncovered if I shouldn't

Which leads to my question.

How was the factory gasket and RTV applied?

Should they both be exposed or was it done neatly?

Should this exposed heat riser area be covered or uncovered?

This is on matching LS6 intake and heads.

Thanks

Heat riser hole was covered by gasket, their is a fair amount of gasket exposed in the heat riser area, thats the way it is. front & rear gaskets are cork, I'd use a small amount of sealer in the corners. correct gasket should be a core-metal black gasket.
