98% rust free?? IMO, you won't really know that until you get the current paint off the truck. I've heard too many people say that and when they start stripping or blasting, it's a different story. And I know that from personal experience w/ several projects.
Based on the description you gave, I'd say it's worth 6K to 8K.
Good luck.

Cool car. Looks to need a little more than paint, brakes, engine gaskets, carb rebuild, AC recharge, etc.. If you really like the car and plan to keep it maybe $6-8k, the farther back the better. This car could could easily have unforeseen problems which will do nothing but suck money from your wallet.

Check the frame closely, right in front of the rear, at the bottom of the kick up, Had a 67 that was very nice and original, sheet metal was mint, and the frame in front of the rear was swiss cheese. I think the price quoted by the other posts is in the ballpark.

We have had 3 67 el caminos and all of them had some frame rot....the 3rd was fixable the other 2 were junk. That's Indiana for ya. That looks like a nice project.

If the interior parts were put back in and the car cleaned up. I could see around 7-8K. Possibly more if you can get in mechanically running and driving on top of it. Neat car.

Back in 1990 I had a 70 350 El Co with every option known to man. PW, PL, Fiber, Tach dash, AC, Cowl hood, 12 bolt, SS stripes. Either a very good clone of heavy optioned car.

Here are some pics, it is supposed to be original paint except for a quarter panel where a dent was repaired. I know the pictures aren't great but that's all I have.
Thats almost the same interior as mine except mine's a manual console, same dash too.

Well, I went back and forth on this for a week and I decided it was a too good to pass up. Left a deposit and will pick up next week. How often do you find a solid one owner car with some cool options ?

You nailed it! Lots of roaches out there, lots of restored cars, very few nice originals that you can truly tell what you're getting.....Good for you!!

I was rude to forget to congratulate you.

Jerry is right, unmolested cars are hard to find and well worth it. With so many hacks out there it's hard to know what is hiding just below the surface. It seems like most are plain jane's, but once in a while you get lucky and stumble upon one with cool options like your El Camino.

The price was $4800 . It comes with some NOS moldings for the sides and wheel openings. I was told that it was ordered with a factory towing package and air shocks , and an electronic ignition ??? It also has a Holley carb which looks like a Quadrajet replacement. Was told that is a factory unit also but I don't know about that. The car was only driven till 1978, sat in a truck body since. It comes with original sale invoice ,protecto plate, original title and some previous registrations. The owner ordered the car with non-power drum brakes and manual steering, AC, power windows, console and buckets, 350/300hp, 12 bolt 3.55 posi .

Does anyone know where they put the build sheet in these cars ? I didn't find in the seat springs.

Towing package, with drum brakes. Air shocks are standard equipment, speadbore holley are aftermarket Q-jet replacements. If you order NO streering and brakes, this is standard. Just saying.

ALL 1970 El Caminos built had air shocks, Air shocks or the correct name " Super Lifts " were standard equipment on all El Caminos,,, 6 cyl. 3 speeds or an LS-6 with an M/22. Also F-41 was not a 70 option on El Caminos.
NICE RIDE, I could squeeze it in my garage, If YA don't want it !!!

yup, drum brakes and manual steering are standard equipment and all Elky's come with air shocks but I did find YD1 Trailering Axle listed in the option codes section.I have no idea if it applies to your El camino or what but its listed there and may have some relevence to yours.

You didn't say where your Elk was built, certain factories put the build sheets in different places.Behind door panels, under carpet by gas pedal,on top of gas tank, under the carpet,in the seat back are some places that come to mind.

Sorry, didn't mean to say that he ordered manual steering and brakes. I do know that they are standard equipment. I too found it odd to buy a car for towing and not upgrade the brakes. I was told that he bought this car to tow a boat from Connecticut to New Hampshire for fishing excursions.
