Hello- I am new to the board am I am finally getting around to restoring my grandfather's 1970 Chevy Chevelle Malibu I inherited 11 years ago. I remember the car since 1974, but it was banged up when he got it and missing the wheelcovers. He added a few mismatched sets over the years before finally painting the steel wheels silver. I want to restore back to stock as delivered but do not know which hubcaps would be correct.
How do I determine this? Thank you for any help.

Hub caps (aka 'dog dish') were standard, 4 wheel cover styles were optional. without a build sheet or dealer documentation to confirm which your's came with originally, any of the 4 optional wheel covers, or even the hub cap, would be 'correct' for your car. The CHV039 would show on documentation as RPO #PO1 (full wheel covers), the CHV040 is RPO PO2 (deluxe wheel covers). The CHV038 (mag style) and CHV036 (wire) were dealer accessory items and carried no RPO - according to my GM information.

I have a complete CHV039 set (used-no dings), although not as expensive. Most people want rallye(sp?) wheels or a set of aftermarket wheels instead of hubcaps. Digi-pics available if your'e interested.

EDIT: Will place items for sale on the Want/Sell Ad pages.
