Hi all,
I'm new to CHEVELLES. I purchased a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 with a build sheet at a public auction. While checking all the numbers I've ran across a difference. All numbers matched with intake, carburetor and heads. Block though is TL28XAA which isn't correct for a delivered LS6. Just question what this would be?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you
Bob Updike

That build sheet is a fake also.
X2
It is definately a fake.

To the OP. I hope you didnt get stung too bad on this car. Most likely a fabricated LS6. Many of thecars at these high priced auctions are misrepresented. Buyers beware. Maybe not even a real SS car. While these thieves are spinning their web why start with a half truth? Answer is they most li!ely wouldnt. So It could be just a plain o!d Malibu.

I'm sorry to say, but I believe you've been severely ripped off. The build sheet, which for US-built 1970 Chevelles, and in the absence of a original bill of sale paperwork, Protect-O-Plate, and a verifiable original drivetrain with partial VINs (not restamped!!!) is the only... hear me now... THE ONLY way to prove a body VIN's pedigree, is an obvious forgery. And I use that word FORGERY very delibrately, because someone went through a lot of effort to weather and age a type-written fake piece of paper. You have no idea what that thing should look like. I do. I'm an Art Director and Graphic Designer by trade, and it is MY JOB to notice the differences in font and layout. If you bought this car based on that piece of paper, than you've been had. I'm sorry if you feel I'm not being "nice"... but I am being HONEST with you.

You haven't shown many photos here, but you have elsewhere and I have seen them:

Your engine does not have ANY smog equipment, and your exhaust manifolds have never even been drilled/tapped to accept AIR injection tubes. There are a LOT of other details off in your engine bay... on your whole car for that matter... I haven't the energy to point them all out to you

...and a fine detail you may want to fix:

The build sheet is faker than a 3 dollar bill. There are also multiple incorrect things on that car. Hopefully you had someone that knows these cars well advise you before you bid on it.

Welcome aboard Bob
It looks like you bought a very nice Chevelle, fake build sheet or not.

Thank you for all the input, it's appreciated. I feel I bought this Chevelle for what I could afford and thought I got a real good price. I'm very happy with the car, it works well and presents well. First Chevelle I bought I was 14 years and it was a Malibu. I put alot of time and money into it and enjoyed it too.
Thank you
Bob

Some look at whats done and say i got steal. Doesn’t matter cuz i love her.
