A friend just purchased a 1970 Chevelle SS454 4 Speed coupe. He has told me that the car was sold as numbers matching, and now that its in his garage he has come to me for verification that I could not provide.

Pad was blank other then a "T", no VIN or suffix code. I was unable to see rear of block for casting and date.

I don't have my books handy, can you please verify the following as well as offer anything on the T stamp?

Thanks

Thanks Ed. New gas tank and underside of car is Red, not black, so as far as it not being molested...that ship has sailed. You confirmed what I was thinking with undisputable facts. Too bad I wasn't asked before he shelled out $50,000.00 for a NOM car. It does drive real nice tho :)
I hear ya Dale, but its his own fault. I had been helping him in both education and the search. I had to go to get my kids at college, I was only gone for the weekend and he was hard sold. The seller pulled all the tricks, Oh I know its numbers matching, but I never checked, I don't bother with that stuff, don't insult me and bring any experts here, another buyer is on his way with a flat bed....just sad. the guy knew enuf to get that kind of money, but not enuf to spend it wisely. It is a nice car, but for that money it should have been matching
