What Rick and Tom mean is that the bracket was formed from a sheet of galvanized metal with an appearance like the photos below. :) I don't have a clue about how to reproduce the coating.

I do that all the time if the original finish is in good shape. Many times it is just oxidized and will clean up nicely.
Hi Rick, In a post on a LS6 you were restoring, I asked you what's the best media for restoring bolts; you gave me the advice on glass beads...

I can't thank you enought!!! I was blasting with, sand, black beauty, and low pressure, that took the rasied or bossed marks off the original bolts... With the glass bead, and wire brush, some items look new again... Thank you, Buddyv

Glad I could help. One of these days when the body is done on that car and in paint I will get back to that thread and continue on. I am also writing a similar monthly tech article for Restoration Highway Magazine so hopefully it will help a lot of people.
