The stamp looks OK, but the carb appears to be a parts store "remanufactured" unit as it's missing the de-accel valve (what the seller called the "back-off idle valve") and appears to have the wrong top casting on it (no provisions for bowl vent).

Yep. Dated 084 of 1970, which would be about March 24th.

2 things wrong with this carb which makes me think it is a restamp 1st the vent is missing on the top in the front as vintage musclecar pointed out, but the vacuum opening port in the main body under the choke pull off diapham the real 7040205 does not have this vacuum opening but the small block carbs do the 202 ,203 etc.thanks, Marty
