If I'm not mistaken, that is a 72 only CI air cleaner.
The 70-71 did not have the vacuum pod on the snorkel. It was used on 72 models for heat off of the exhaust manifold during cold starting. Vacuum to the pod was regulated by a temp sensor that was installed in a coolant port on the intake manifold.

This is the snorkel on 70-71 CI air cleaners (I think, corrections welcome).
And yes, only BB cars came with CI hood systems. My 70 has a SB400 with a FULL, COMPLETE CI hood system.

1971 and 1972 used the Thermac device on the snorkel. 1970;did not. The decal on the lid is for a 1971 LS-5 motor. 1972 LS-5 had a lower HP rating. Nice find as they are rare!

Repro units are based off the 1970 unit. Also the 71-72 snorkel has a more downward angle then the 70’s.

Glad you clarified that. I thought the Thermac was 72 only. I was not totally sure about 71.

Looks decent hard to tell overall condition from
one pic. Hopefully it’s not overpriced

Because they don’t come up for sale often, it is hard to put a price on it. How bad do you want it? IMHO low would be $300

Whenever one shows up at an in person auction, I'm ready to go at least $300 dollars as well. Same thing with flat bottomed Camaro CI air cleaners. I've out bid many buyers who later ask how much I would sell it to them for. They always go away shaking their head and empty handed.
