Simply peel it off and away. You likely will find some rust and maybe an adhesive residue but a little sanding will take care of that.

DON'T DAMAGE THE DRIP EDGE CHROME!! You can make somebody very happy with those pieces. Be very careful removing it.

Yes exactly what Rick said,
If you are able to remove the drip rail molding's that go over top of the door down to the quarter by the door handle I would be very interested to have first dibs at purchasing them from you .

And I share your humble opinion about vinyl tops. My black top looks very good on a blue metallic paint job with silver gray SS hood stripes.

But with a vinyl top, I'm even less happy with a little rain.

I agree I like vinyl roofs especially 66/67 coupes and they look great on Ellies too. My 69 Camaro had one that I replaced. Not hard at all just take your time. And as others have said expect rust and unless yours is going to be stored outdoors or a daily driver I would put it back on.
