FWIW, Based on many examples of engine stampings I have on file I would say that is not an original stamping. The T0607 may be correct but the rest appears to have been added. the JD is the incorrect font size and should be similar to the complete engine assembly date. The vin is an incomplete CONVIN, not likely stamped at the factory that way and as mentioned before the body was assembled in Jan 1969 (01B from trim tag) and the engine assembled in June 1969, not likely they would have held the body that long. additionally the atlanta plant did not report VINs for May and June if I remember right, sorry at work right now and don't have my list with me. hope this helps Andy

Atlanta and KC big-block partial VINs were stamped on the rough cast area near the oil filter, not on the engine pad itself. As noted the "JD" was added and partial VIN is incomplete anyway. Chevrolet certainly wasn't about to hold a body in the body bank from January to June. :noway:

At least they posted a picture of the stamp so anyone here on TC wouldn't bite on this car. Imagine how many of these cars on Ebay get sold as the "Real Deal" by unsuspecting buyers that haven't been fortunate enough to stumble on to TC. That re-stamp is so bad I have to believe the seller/broker is just flat out clueless as to what that pad should really look like.
