I was told the 1969 harness will not work with a 1968 harness because connections are on the other side of the car from the wires needed.
Incorrect with the Classic Upate kit as that is a modified kit which allows for either/or. Also allows for column or dash mounted ignition switches. The stock stuff, yes that is correct, thye are unique.

Does this kit work with any gauge cluster? I have a 69 malibu right now with a 350 and may switch to a SS dash to go along with a BB down the road
Yes it does, but once you build the cluster extension harness for a car with idiot lights, you would have to totally rebuild it for a car with gauges. The connectors and terminals to do both are included, so just leave the wires sloppy-long if you plan of changing things at a later date. That way, you'll have ample wire to do the conversion. You might need an extra terminal or two, but we can help with that. Also, the oil and temperature connections at the engine are different, so be sure to leave them a bit long as well.

Will this kit work on a 68 wagon? I guess I could add my own harness for the electric rear window, would everything else be the same?

As Bryan noted, you'll need to get the 510166 S/W and El Camino add-on kit to take care of the specialized rear body stuff. As far as the PW in the tailgate goes, that would have to be re-used or rebuilt as we have not addressed that at all. As the matter of fact, we don't even do those in our OE line-up. Not many requests unfortunately.

Hope this helps, Donny. :beers:

I saw a kit this weekend that Ausley's had for a 70-72......
Can't beat the price. The under dash harness is usually $450.

Do you guys have anything for a 77 Camaro or any plans to make something? I know it's not the most popular car to restore but I have a buddy with one that needs wiring. He thinks he will have to go with Painless.

The current 70-73 kit can be used with some "in the field" modifications and it will still be far more complete than anything else on the market from any manufacturer. There areas in question are regarding a few lamp sockets and such that we do not have tooling on, so we cannot market it in good faith as being "for that car". However, we have had several customer's purchase that kit for the 74-81 cars. It is sell far better than using a "universal" harness. The general layout is much the same from 1970 thru 1981. Good luck!

How many changes will I have connecting your harness to a Dakota Digital VHX dash?

I just ordered the 510158 kit. I also have a DD VHX dash coming. I want to do the dash and wiring and be done with it.
