Do they sell gaskets that go under the SS hood louvers to protect the
paint? Don't know if the factory louvers had gaskets?

The factory assembly instruction manual shows two different seals, #3897550 and #3897552 between the hood ornament and the hood panel on UPC 11 13, sheet B7. My Chevrolet parts book only shows one of them, #3897552. From the AIM drawing, it looks like a single seal surrounding the ornament (#3897550) and 4 seals for the studs (#3897552) and parts book only shows the latter and indicates 8 required - assume that's for both ornaments.

Haven't looked to see if anyone in the aftermarket is making either.

It just seems odd to bolt the new louvers directly to the hood (metal to metal), that's why I am asking. From your response the factory did have a gasket, I just need to find a set.

Not sure of your question. Does the 66 SS ornament have a seal? Yes there is a seal on the 66 SS hood panel, part #3907602. Obviously not the same as the 67. :thumbsup:

Has anyone ever actually seen these seals originally on a car (67s)? Not only have I never seen them for sale in any of the resto books ( & I've looked for awhile), I've never seen a used set. Doesn't mean they didn't exist, but I've never seen them...

I have to say I wasnt aware of gaskets in these places (66) myself either.

I've never seen them on a 67! Doesn't mean that they don't or never existed.
