I’ve recently stumbled across a 1967 Chevelle SS and the guy claims it’s one of the dealer added 427’s, I read all the previous conversations about wether or not these were “real cars” or just a myth, but he does have a build sheet that says L72 427 conversion, and he also has the numbers matching 396 350hp on the side that came from the factory, but I would like your guy’s opinion on this build sheet and let me know what you guys think, I look forward to hearing from you

the font looks modern to me could this be a repop?(I have no idea)
Thought fletcher chevy was downtown? Know there was a Terry York Chevy on Ventura Blvd..friends father used to run the parts dept in the 80s.
Curious. In those days you could actually get a dealer to do swaps like that. Neat....pics of car, love Tahoe Turquoise!

The build sheet did feel kinda new, I’m used to feeling a build sheet want to crumble in your hands from the age and condition, and unfortunately no pics of the car I forgot to take some

Uh... If it was a "dealer conversion" it would not list it on the FACTORY build sheet! LOL.
That Build sheet looks totally fake to my untrained eye. The font and the color on the "options" listed and the data in the boxes all looks wrong.

Pretty stupid really... would be better to provide a faked buildsheet proving it was a real 350hp SS car and then cook up some OTHER fake docs from a dealer stating they installed a 427.

Looked it up during the 60s that was fletcher chevrolet..my stepdad bought his 69 Caprice new there
Think later it was Terry York and is now a Rydell...lots of guys make fake sheets or a duplicate and try to age the paper.
That woulda been done with some older printer or typewriter in the day.

Sucks..so hard to tell whats fake, an authentic reproduction, who can tell anymore
Must hurt the owners of legit cars in some way?
Whats so bad about telling the truth LOL

The printing looks like it was done on a modern printer. The ink looks too consistent for all the letters/numbers. I’m assuming back in the day they would have been done on typewriters where the ink wouldn’t look perfect for every letter. My build sheet looks wayyy different…

Sheet format is bogus....also question why a Baltimore build sent to Cali, when Fremont plant was open. This topic of 1967 427 Chevelles keeps popping up, a few guys in my area supposedly paid the difference after they blew up their 350hp/396"s ,paid the dealer the difference and got the 427 into their Chevelle as "warrenty replacements"...so it was said...never saw one myself.

The thing is I 110% believe THAT story. We all know crazy stuff happened to these cars as soon as they left the dealer lots, and even on the dealer lots after they got off the trucks.
Getting the biggest baddest crate motor possible was totally doable after the fact considering the dealership parts counter guys were just regular guys who might do a favor for a few cases of beer or bottles of booze. Anyway its not nearly as hard to believe as the factory allowing 1 off combinations they were not supposed to allow on the production line where there is oversight and auditing for ever step of the process... after all that's what the build sheets were for!

But did they give you the numbers matching 396 engine with it??
that stayed,my late cousin was the original owner AND worked at the dealership, original 396/350 engine dropped a valve, still have the paper work but thinking back nothing was really "documented" other then high-performance engine, pretty sure rules were bent.lol

The zone rep representative in charge of warranty should have took a sledge to the lifter valley

This was settled back in around 1997-98 or so on here.
There were no 67 427's from the factory ever.

Can't remember the guys user name that settled it - something like Skip Cane
I guess all his stuff got deleted with the change in forum format, (I can't find it).
I bet Al remembers Skip
