I am getting ready to restore my seatbelts in a 67. The interior is gold and the retractable covers are missing. Does anyone know where I can find a set of original gold retractable covers?

Thanks,

Shawn

Based on a quick glance at that website, it looks like they only sell generic aftermarket stuff so they are unlikely to sell parts for repair or replacement of Original GM seat belts.

There are a number of guys scattered around the country that restore Original belts. Do a google search for Chevelle seat belt restoration, and you might find someone who does belt restorations and has a stash of extra parts.

But be aware that for some reason unknown to me the gold 67 retractor covers seem to crumble a lot more easily than the blue and black ones. In my gold interior car the covers were cracked to the point of being completely gone, and I bought a pair of NOS gold 67 front deluxe belts and one of the retractors cracked into 5 or 6 pieces in the box during shipping, despite being well boxed and padded. So you might be on a needle-in-the-haystack quest!

Hijacking just a bit here, but I'm in total sticker shock on a set of belts for my 66. $395.00 for what the seller calls "driver quality" 66 belts? And that does NOT include shipping!

Really?

Just discovered my 66 belts are not correct originals.

Jeff,

Thanks for the info. I am taking the belts out of the car tomorrow and sending them to a guy in OK to restore. He is attempting to find a set of covers for me. I have a set of covers that I purchased at Super Chevy one is cracked in 2 places. Should I get a set of black, blue or red covers and have them dyed gold? The covers that I have appear to be tan that has been dyed gold.

Thanks,

Shawn

Keith,

If you are not in a hurry I will let you know what the damage will be on mine. I will post photos when I get them back.

This car is starting to hundred dollar me to death. :)

Everyone who has ever owned a musclecar has experienced this at one time or another. It's amazing how fast those hundreds add up to thousands.

I feel your pain. I'm dealing with this myself as we speak on my current build. Whatever, it's only money... ;)
