I haven't got the wheel tech down yet. I hope someone is able to help. I have a 1967 Chevelle that has a 1968 rear end in it. This means I loose 1.50 inches of space (the '68 rear end is wider that a factory '67). Does anyone know what is the widest wheel and backspacing needed for this application? I can't seem to find any help with this topic. I would like to fit 17" or 18" wheels. I'm just trying to get as much as possible under the rear fenders.

I have a 66 with a 68 or 69 rear end. You don't lose any space, you just need to run a wheel with more backspacing. I was running 20x10 with 6" backspace. If the rear end was still stock, that wheel would be more like a 5.5" backspace. Wheel was centered in the wheelwell. 285/30/20 was the tire size. I think 285 or 295 is about as wide as you can go with the 66/67 rear wheelwell. Hope this helps.

A 68-72 rear is 1" wider than the stock 67. My 66 has a 70 rear in it. I run 15X8 with 5" BS 275/60/15 and the wheel and tire are perfectly centered. I also have 1" lowering springs and run the car hard and have never had a rubbing issue.
As Tyler said above a 285/295 on a 17 or 18 wheel is pushing it but it can be done.
