Hello TC:

I am trying to get all my pulleys lined up but I'm missing the power steering extension pulley for the crank so where can I buy a proper extension pulley that will fit inside the dual groove pulley? The stock dual groove crank pulley I have, is numbered 3863108 BF. Outer diameter 6-3/4" and inside diameter is 5". See attached pic of stock pulley.

I did purchase a power steering extension pulley from Ausley's but it won't fit inside the above stock pulley; diameter is too large.

I also purchased from Ausley's the single groove water pump pulley but it is larger in diameter 7" than the dual grove pulley that I'm trying to replace which is 5-13/16".

Who carries the correct pulleys I'm needing?

Also, is the water pump measurement from where pulley mounts to the block, supposed to be 5-3/4"?

Thank you for your help!

My 66 uses stamped steel pulleys. That cast one is the one 66-67 Corvettes use

First question is what HP is your engine?

325 and 350 horse 396 originally came with all stamped steel non-deep-groove pulleys. The crank pulley was 1-groove unless it had CA smog or AC, or 2-groove if it had CA smog or AC. The PS crank pulley was an add-on pulley that stacks in front of the other crank pulley.

375 horse 396 originally came with a cast iron deep groove crank pulley; a stamped steel deep groove WP pulley; a machined steel deep groove alt pulley (with separate fan); and a cast iron deep groove PS pump pulley (if so equipped). The cast iron crank pulley was 1-groove unless it had CA smog or PS, or 2-groove if it had CA smog w/o PS, or 3-groove if it had PS.

Of course you don't have to install what originally came on the car, but you probably ought to at least pick one approach or the other (deep groove, or not), and then get pulleys that all match up with each other. The spacing of the grooves is different on deep groove pulleys versus non-DG pulleys, so getting good pulley alignment will be even more challenging than it normally is if you use a mixed bag of non-matching parts.

Good luck!
