I have a 1967 Chevelle SS 138 car. I'm in the middle of restoring it. It has a 396 with a edlebrock 750 performer carb and a TH-400 transmission. The vehicle does not have the bracket behind the carb for the kick down switch. I've read that the switch will not work with out the old carb on it. My question is has anyone used the Edlebrock nitrous switch as a kick down switch?

You could, but the nitrous switched are rated very low amperage as they are used on the grounding side of the system. And you learn something every day. Never knew 67s pt he switch on the carb. Used to 68-up where the switch is on a bracket above the go pedal.

Everyone is telling me that my kick down switch should be under the dash but mine has a rod that goes through the firewall not a cable. So that means that mine should have a switch mounted to the manifold that when the carb arm comes back it hits the switch. I call Edlebrock they said the nitrious switch will work, but i just want to do it right. I looked at the B&M but it doesnt show a bracket with it.

The originals were designed to fit specific carb bases. Most you find will be for a QJet - not for a modern Holley type base. In other words, they will most likely not be a simple bolt on and will need redesigning to make contact for the down shift where you want it to occur. On the 65, I use a micro switch for a nitrous set up, made a simple bracket and adjusted it so the TH400 downshift occurs at about 2/3 throttle. 67 was the last year for the "under the hood" design in most GMs.
