So a couple parts to this, one looking to get an idea of value, two is there a similar site for camaros where I might have a chance of reuniting this motor with the car it came from?

Picked up a 396 today casting number 3902406 complete motor with original heads (casting number 3917215), has original cast iron intake (3883948) and what I assume to be the original water pump and oil pan. T052IMY is stamped on the data pad, which if I understand correctly works out to Tonawanda Engine Plant, May 21 and 67 Camaro. Thanks!

I'd think you could get 6 /7 grand for the motor from the right buyer who's doin a restoration and it doesnt have to be THEE car .for it to be worth that kinda dough . Year correct in itself is a huge deal for some of these guys. Also if all the accessories on the engine are original thats huge .Not numbers matching the car but motor and year correct for the car
Gotta sell it . I dont mean you NEED to sell it . I mean if you want to sell it you gotta sell it lol if I'm clicking .
For instance I've got a 66 goat . Well I've got a 66 389 about ready to go in the car. Although it isnt THEE motor it still makes the whole deal worth alot more money because its year correct. Then I'll put this little gem/bling on it to really Jack it up .

This is your best shot at reuniting the engine with it's car: 1967 - Orphans (camaros.org) Be prepared with good, clear pictures of the block casting number, casting date, assembly code stamp, and the partial VIN. I wouldn't expect anywhere near $6-$7k for it, though.... even if the original car is found. And yes, there is a Team Camaro. Team Camaro Tech (camaros.net)

Unless it is reunited to the original car then IMO it is worth no more than any other run of the mill 396. I never bought into the belief that a period correct engine is worth more. If it is not the original then what’s the difference. Maybe period correct will appeal to some but not me. MAYBE the market doesn’t agree with me but I don’t care.

6-7 grand for the above mentioned engine is a hell of a stretch IMO. Nowhere worth that kind of money...
I agree that's a stretch and I'd never pay it but the old saying goes....theres an ass for every seat lol. The right guy comes along and they can be reeled in . Not dishonest, just buissnes. That's why I commented that to get that kind of money he'd have to "sell it "
I see your aka is flipper . You flip cars and stuff ? If you do I'm very sure you know exactly what I'm talking about . One mans junk just may be anothers treassure .

What's a run of the mill 396 go for? I bought this one because I knew it was a good deal but I don't really know the market on them.

I'm sure 6-7k is the guy at the end of the rainbow price but am genuinely curious what a camaro guy wanting a date correct motor would pay. Thanks for at least putting a price out there everyone else that responded seems to have an opinion on everything but the value.

Well I'll lend this advice.
Start looking for one like you are the guy with the 67 camaro or chevelle who wants a year correct 396 . Then you'll know .
You wont be seeing those on every shelf at the store lol

Nobody wants a 396 unless it's a numbers match. Chance of that is one in a million.
A date correct block is sometimes sought after, but maybe $2000 ? Unless it's a numbers match, it's not going to boost the value of the car.

I think $2K is a little high. If it is complete with the correct date coded carburetor and you can find someone that wants/needs a 67 engine for a Camaro then maybe $1.5 K. Otherwise $800.00 and unless you have some paperwork on it and they can’t see and hear it run then maybe less. After all how do you know it doesn’t have a spun bearing or the block is cracked or some other issue.

They must be easier to find than I thought and less sought after than I thought.
Now I've gotta try and buy one to see .
Shop it not buy it

Put in on Ebay and see what happens.
List it like this
1967 396 engine OEM
Then in the listing post that it was out of a 67 camaro and post good photos of numbers and engine ofcourse.
Test the water

Heres the first stop I made tryin to find one .

You are confusing what sellers are asking compared to what items actually sell for. I recently saw a run of the mill Chevelle bench seat listed for $1,200.00 when the going price is $300.00. Most of these sellers have the same strategy. List an item for a sky high price and if someone is foolish enough to buy it then they score big. Problem is most times there is nobody dumb enough to bite. Fact is unless one finds that buyer that needs a date correct 396 they are a tough sell and not very much desired. Most people these days want either an LS or a 454 block that they can build.

Nope, not a flipper...just a nickname I've had for years - before I even owned a car.

Confusing ?
If they are that cheap and that readily easy to find then show me one . Just one
