Not sure if this should be under body shop ? But I am looking to paint my 1966 Chevelle 4-speed console and need advise !
I need a paint that will show the texture of the original metal covers yet has some durability (clear coat) ? Also not sure if I am going to use the original base (repaired) or use a Rest-parts Console base as it looks pretty good as far as fit an originality ?

Not quite sure how many questions your asking. What color of console? The reason I ask is it a common color like black or an interior color, like blue, that has to be matched. In general I recommend the SEM Color Coat series. Color Coat™ | Brand | SEM Products

For the interior metal and plastic parts with an embossed texture - I used exterior urethane base coat with a small amount of top coat catalyst to achieve a semi-flat sheen. The catalyst provides both hardening durability and UV light protection.
I would not advise clear coat.

My entire console is aftermarket and I'm very pleased with it. It was purchased from Ground-uo (SS396,com) 8 years ago.

I used the same base coat but with clear coat for the dash, column and steering wheel with various levels of flattening agent in the clear to achieve as close to the original lacquer sheens.

Hi sorry i should have put Color my Car Interior is Black. I purchased a Resto-parts bottom console as my original had/has some issues ! I stripped the paint on the metal uppers as i painted them with SEM Semi-gloss and it just seemed way to shinny ? I was contemplating on using Eastwood under hood black Lacquer as they advertise it will not hide any imperfections hoping the grain would show nicely ? Then toping it off with a SEM satin or semi-gloss clear for added durability ? Not sure on prep and painting a brand new bottom ?

I think SEM Landau Black is for Plastic ? (would work on the lower portion of the Console) ?
I stripped off the Sem Semi-gloss Black, I was thinking the Eastwood under Hood Black or Now I am leaning to the Sem Trim-Black as posted in a another Console post question (torn) ? Because I do not wish to hide the textured metal uppers. I used Sem Semi-Gloss Black on the interior of my 1966 GTO and it worked out Great. Painted the Chevelle with the same, But the Body Shop put fine scratches all over my Dash..!

I think SEM Landau Black is for Plastic ? . . .
SEM Landau Black (15013) is part of the Color Coat series that I recommended. I suggest that you go to the SEM site and learn about using that series. Color Coat is a flexible coating to "Restore or change the color of most vinyl surfaces, flexible and rigid plastics, carpet and velour." They also have useful products like 39863 Plastic Adhesion Promoter and 38343 Vinyl Prep.

Hi Yes I used SEM products for my 66 GTO interior, BUT I really wanted to get better durability if possible for the 66 Chevelle ? I will use there product for sure on the lower section of the console and all the plastic trim inside around window and kick panels as suggested.
