I have a friend who is restoring his 68 malibu. He is putting a 327 engine from a 1966 Caprice in it. When he rebuilt the engine he put the intake from his 68 motor on the engine. Now he realizes that he has nowhere to put his temperature sending unit.

The 1966 intake has a place for the sending unit but it is for a holley carb. The 68 intake has no place because the unit was in the heads. But the 1966 heads don't have a place for it. He wants to run his quadrajet carb. So what is his best solution for this problem?

He also needs the stove pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold up to the air cleaner. Do they reproduce these? We have had no luck finding one.

Thanks.

you can get a t-stat housing with the right size hole for a sender. not real original looking but it works. After the t-stat opens, that is.

What do you mean by the STOVE PIPE ??? I had the same issue with the temp sending unit on my 327 engine, went to a new Edelbrock manifold, if interested I will get the # off the manifold.

there's a steel shield around the manifold with large diameter tube that goes up the snrkel on the air filter housing. If it all works right it helps with cold driveability.

look for a t-stat housing for an 80s 305 Camaro. verify it has the hole before sending money.
