I have the above, original blue/green paint(have to look up the exact color name), split bench front seats.

A 4 speed Munice with a Hurst shifter. Purchased with a 400 bored to a 406. Roller rocker lifter arm broke and ate a cam lobe.

I removed the engine, took it down to the bare block(just left the crank, rocker arms and pistons in for now).

Purchased a "new" 350 built from a 78 block. a totally dressed motor with all expensive parts( I have the entire build list).

The engine was $8K, built and shipped!!

The entire car was gone thru by my mechanic after the 400 was taken out. Mechanically need nothing at all!

I would list the car as a "good" driver. The paint is not perfect but pretty good. Hardly a dent, chrome is ok but not perfect.

But with the hooker headers and this new engine that makes between 450-480HP........this car is a monster to drive and listen to.

Anyway, if any interest in the spring(in my garage and covered), glad to show, etc.

I have a complete build list for the new engine, some pictures....and the new engine has less than 10 miles on it!!

Thanks for reading this,

here is the info I sent to another member....asking today......

here is my thinking(and again I have almost every document for the car).....I swapped my 72 el camino for the malibu in early oct)...the 400(bored to 406) was rebuilt in sept 2020 and brought in with a broken valve spring and a bad pushrod) to my mechanics shop. We noticed some other issues with valves on different cyl's, started breaking the engine and found that the 2nd new cam, in 6 months had broken an arm on a lifter, dug a huge trench on one lobes. The first new cam had a lobe worn completely flat!!

So we did not trust anything on that engine, kept on breaking it down, heads looked ok but we found mag particles in the filter and oil pan....so I had to buy a new engine. I paid $7000(everything is posted here), $420 in Vermont sales tax and $500 to crate and ship from Indiana to Vermont.

I then paid appr. $3300, parts and labor)(all completely documented, as well ) to prep everything felt we needed to install the engine.

Since I paid $20000 from mechanic for the el camino in may this year, given the appr. 11k for the new engine and install, etc......I would ask 30K....but open to a fair offer.

Hagerty puts the value of a 65 malibu with a 4sp manual at appr. 25K(with the least powerful 327) in it.

Anyway......BTW, I am bruce5407 on ebay, with over 480 all positive. never a neutral or negative review since I joined in 2005
