Welcome to TC.........I just picked up a 1965 post car and have been playing with wheels........I'm pretty sure if you want a 15X8 wheel on the rear you will need a 5" back space. I've got that tire/wheel set-up (275/60X15 w/5" bs) but haven't had time to try it. I did fit a 215/70X15 on a 15X7 w/4.25" bs on the rear with no problem. I'm not sure about getting the 275 on because I had to jack the body and let the axle hang to get the 215's on and it was a tight.........

Right now my plan is to run 14X7" wheels in back and 14X6" wheels up front......225/70 rear and either 195/75 or 205/70 up front....stock poverty caps all.......

I have a 235/60/15 on a 7" rim with the factory 12 bolt in my '65. I think they are 4.5" backspace. I have to remove the shock to allow the axle to drop enough to get the tire in there. I ended up with about .5" clearance on the fender lip (not modified). there is still a bit of space between the shock mount and frame on the inside. I think if you ran a 5" backspace, you could probably fit a 8" wheel in there.

I had 275/60/15 rears 15x8,5in bs.frts 15x7 215 70 15,jacked up by the frame not the axle they go in.lips have been trimmed at the tire bulge only by previous owner but they would go in without the trimming,,,,,he had the wrong wheels on the car hence the trimming.
