1965 Chevelle SS
For Sale ~ 1965 Chevelle SS with original 230 straight six (VIN 13737) with a two speed Powerglide. 1964 and 1965 were the only years you could order a Chevelle with the Super Sport package and a 6 cylinder engine. Back then, the SS package was basically an upgraded trim package with SS badging and two tone interior.
I am the third owner of the car. I have owned the car for close to 24 years. The Chevelle was restored during the time I owned it. All work was performed by me except the bodywork and paint. The car was repainted the original Ermine White and has a two tone blue interior. The actual mileage of the car is unknown because the speedometer cable was broken when I bought it. The odometer reads 19,000 miles. Based on the cars condition I do not believe the odometer has turned over yet. When I took the engine apart for a complete rebuild, I found no wear or broken parts, so I believe this is a very low mileage car. Since everything was in such good shape, I did not have to rebuild the engine. The engine was cleaned, painted and all seals and gaskets replaced. The car runs great.
The exterior chrome trim is a combination of new and original. All the emblems are original and have been restored. Bumpers are new. The car currently has chrome rally wheels with P225/60/R15 tires in front and P235/70/R15 tires on the rear. The tires have minimal mileage on them. The car also comes with the original steel rims, which have been sandblasted and repainted. They have a set of 195/75/R14 radial tires mounted on them. Also included are the original SS hubcaps which have been restored, plus an extra for the spare tire.
The interior has been completely restored to original condition including the following:
Seats recovered
New headliner & visors
New carpet
New floor mats
Painted dash, dash pad steering wheel & door tops
New dash bezel
New door panels
New glove box
New truck mat
��.plus more.
The car has power steering and manual drum brakes. The windshield is new. All other glass is original. The exhaust has been replaced. It has a Thrush Turbo muffler. The heater core is new. I replaced the original sway bar with a heavy duty model to help eliminate body roll in the turns. The floor boards are all original and are in great shape. The trunk had one rust hole that was cut out and a new panel was welded in place.
The car runs and drives like brand new. I would not hesitate to take this car anywhere. The car is completely stock with the exception of the current wheels and I replaced the original AM radio with an AM/FM stereo with cassette player that looks vintage. I also replaced the original front speaker with a new dual stereo speaker and added another on the rear package tray.
I have the original owner�s manual, Protect-O Plate, custom accessory brochure and build sheet found under the back seat. I also have receipts for most of the parts I bought. Everything works on the car except for the clock. I never took it apart to try and fix it.
