[Erik's 64]

I sent all my stuff out to be polished and some items rechromed. When I got it back a couple of parts were "missing"...the guy lost them somehow. One was the rear door trim (which I happened to have a spare) and the other was the power tailgate lock bezel (I think it might be call the eustacheon). Anyways it is the rectangular chrhome piece that goes around the lock on the outside of the tailgate (probably measures about 4" x 1 1/2 and about 3/4" thick. I have looked around online and they are not available aftermarket. If any of you guys can help me out that would be great! I think they are the same on 64-67 Chevelles and some impalas around those years. Thanks a lot. Erik
Just a word of advice for anyone going to get a bunch of parts rechromed TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!!! The guy at the chrome shop is trying to convince me that I never gave him the part.

Exactly! That happened with my wiper switch & a few other pieces that eventually turned up. It's a lot easier to say 'they weren't there'. I'm always on the lookout for wagon parts, thought my wagon is nearly done. Is there a picture somewhere of this bezel? Cause mine is a 65 Chevelle Malibu with a chrome manual crank tailgate, but it's never had a bezel. I'll be on the lookout too.

It would be about the same size as your window crank "bezel" It does not have a crank though, just a round key hole in the center for the key to roll down the power window. One thing I do have is the receipt from the Chrome guy that says "door lock" whatever that means. He said if he couldn't get my original one he would find one. He must have sources that I don't know about. Erik

He's probably calling junkyards thinking they have 'old' wagons in every corner full of parts! My window crank is actually broken from the part that holds it in place, so I carry it inside the wagon for when I need it. So I'm always doing searches for that part. If I don't find one I'm going to have them weld a piece of metal to it to fix it. Anyways since I'm looking for a similar part, if I come across your bezel I will send you a message.

bill, its not what your thinking i have a box of these. and the manual cranks too. i did not ever recieve yours back. did you ever square that up with the shipper? trust me if i did, i wouldnt have posted here again. besides, karma is much worse then money. what did you end up doing? so if this did'nt fit your 64 then it aint going to fit Erik's.

Not my point Pete! I wasn't even thinking about that when I responded.

I simply was just bringing it up because the one you were showing in the pics didn't fit my '66 so it also wouldn't fit the '64.

i know, but the thought of you thinking i would say i didnt get it back then try to resell it made my face turn red like that smillie face. i wasnt sure it would fit or not that is why i posted the pics. i still really dont know for sure. but you are probably right.

i have a bunch of wagon nos stuff, i got a box full of nos tailgate window tracks. the ones that stand verticle in the tailgate that hold the glass. they are metal tracks with a felt like lining. they ae curved and i think they fit only the 68-72. befor that were they curved or straight?

Pete....about the window tracks. I have mine out of my '67 and yes, they are curved

oh, speeking of handles, i have a coupe nos inner tailgate handles too.

charlie, can you send me pics? i wonder if they are the same as 68-72?
does it have a rubber molded part at the top? maybe you could send me one or both to see what i can do, or i think i can find a sample somewhere else if not. and only if your not in a hurry.
