I cannot seem to find the torque specs for a 1964 Chevelle SS Steering Suspension. Can anyone post them up please? Upper/Lower ball joint, tie rods, Upper/Lower control arms... Anything would be very helpful.
Lower control arm bolts Sitting with weight of vehicle on tires.... 55-75 ft lbs
lower cotrol arm ball joint.............................................................. 60-94 ft lbs
upper control arm ball joint........................................................... 60-94 ft lbs
upper control arm to frame........................................................... 55-75 ft lbs
upper control arm bushing nuts sitting with weight of car on tires... 35-50 ft lbs
upper ball joint mounting bolts..................................................... 20-25 ft lbs
center link nuts to idler arms and pitman arm............................. .45 ft lbs
tie rod nuts joints. All.....................................................................tighten securely
This info is provided in the 64 chevelle shop manual
its usually at the end of each section in installation procedure for every piece. its easy to miss. would have been noce if they had dedicated a couple pages at the end for torque specs..
and personally I put a coat of anti seize on ball joint seating surfaces. Just in case it ever needs to come apart again..
Good luck with the project.
