Well, a lot depends on which year and which model is in question. V8 or L6? Single exhaust or dual exhaust? You need to be more specific.

What year? Most big block SSs had duals that terminated at the rear bumper, some years has chrome pipe tips some years didn't. The Z16 (1965 Malibu SS396) is the only one that comes to mind that had tail pipes that ended to the side just behind the rear wheels, maybe there were a few other exceptions. On the 64 and 65 small block cars, the exhaust system depended on which engine was ordered. All the L6 early (64/65) SSs had single exhaust, lower HP V8s did too, higher output V8s had duals.

66 is different than 67 and 67 may be different than 68..and so on

Buying a factory AIM is very helpful for anyone working on these cars..
