Not a lot of power and the range will be pretty low (due to the battery rating).

Project X has continually evolved for decades, but I haven't liked the last few variations. This is the worst one yet.

if they could house a electric motor in a case with the dimensions of a v8 chevy, it would make dropping a electric motor into a classic a breeze. to be able to use the stock of brackets m, ac brackets etc and having it bolt to a dummy trans case with a coupler instead of a converter to a shaft that still plugs a driveshaft in. then it's just batteries, controller. jim

This car is a test bed for Hot Rod, It's a shapeshifter and has been many different things over the years. If this EV conversion brings more interest to this hobby then it's a win-win IMO. It'll probably only be an EV for 6 months if I had to guess before it has some form of other powertrain in it. The comment section of the post's on facebook has become quite entertaining read. This thing has everybody up in arms and threatening to boycott Hot Rod and cancel their subscriptions.

The driveline will have to be plenty stout or the instantaneous torque from the electric motor will twist it to bits if there's much traction.

Hot Rod magazine is circling the drain anyway. My last issue was 75 pages and at least a third was ads. I'm not happy about it but it is what it is.

Freiburger just posted last night that after 33 years he's retired from Hot Rod Magazine. Still doing video but no more articles. His sign off is online: David Freiburger Reflects on 30 Years with HOT ROD

One thing I’ve managed to keep over the decades since the 50’s is all my car magazines, including Hot Rod! Even after our house fire in 2008 where some were damaged....still kept them too! Still great information in there to this day!

Interesting conversion. I hope they do some real world testing with it, rather than trailer it to SEMA and a few shows. I'm guessing it probably won't be driven much at all. If the history of Project X is any indication, it will sit and collect dust more than anything.
