I have to ask:
Will the 17x9.5 Torq thrust II wheels with 5.5 backspace fit to -72 chevelle?
tires 275x45x17 + stock body and suspension

I think that BS will fit both front and rear - at least that's what I ordered. What brand of tire did you find in a 275 45 17?

MJRIBEIRO: the actual size should be 275/40/17.. not 45.

I asked also from American Racing company what they should think about that combination, no answer yet.

Not to worry, i am running the 17x9.5 torque thrust II's with 5.5 b.s. on my 71 chevelle with stock suspension and no problems . Also same tire size 275/40/17. I have the 17x11(6.25 bs) with 315/35/17 tires on the rear with no problems. Only had a chance to drive my chevelle 3 times since i put the new wheels on due to this lovely weather in indiana. You should be good to go.

I just bought a set of 17X9.5 with 5.5 BS and 275/40-17s... Put them on my 70, front and rear... Fit fine...

The fronts Might be tight if lowered...

295s on the rear? No problem...

I have that combo on my 72. I did need to trim a little off of the fender lip, but it does clear the control arms with out any problem.
