Yes, another question.

Since the TKO uses a 1350 front joint, would it be beneficial to just go ahead and have the rear joint a 1350 also? Strange sells the pinion yoke for 1350 for 100.00. There is no charge eveidently to have a 1350 joint put on the d-shaft, so this upgrade would cost 100.00. Would you do it?

Would there be any issues taking off the yoke and putting the new one on (in terms of the gears).

As always, thanks for the input.

I did it on mine. What's another $100, right? :)

Yes, you can put a 1350 yoke on the pinion without disturbing the gear setup. I installed a Mark Williams 1350 rear yoke on mine. Pulled off the old yoke, installed a new seal while I was in there, put RTV on the splines, grease the lip of the seal, installed new yoke, put loc-tite on the threads and torqued it down to about 150 ft-lbs.

Guys, I feel bad now - I did a search and I saw where both of ya were involved in more than one thread regarding this.

Jim, did you ever get that vibration thing solved?

Mike,

that was my next question...

I thought they run a 1350 front joint, but after doing searches I wasn't sure.

Shame on you! I hope you drop your bellhousing on your big toe.:D
I don't have any vibration issue now. Refresh my memory on what post that was in.
and, yes.....it comes with a 1350 joint, (at least mine did when I bought it) I believe it is a C6 slip yoke, 1350 series with Spicer joints.

Jim,
When I was doing a search I saw that you had an issue w a vibration then you found it was a burr or something on the yoke, which took care of most of the vibration, but you still possibly had some high speed vibrations left.

I think it was you?

Ahhhh, yea, the u-joint was not sitting in the saddle of the yoke properly. That fixed the vibration. I was then left with a whine in 5th gear, which by the way I can make it come and go with slight pinion angle changes. My rear is out of the car now because it was bent. After that is all fixed, we will see how quiet everything is. Vibrations were gone though.

Mike, Scott at CC5S said that it was a 1330 joint, so looks like you were right. I'm going to just put a 1350 yoke on the back anyway.

The TKO has a 31 spline output shaft and the front slip yoke that we provide standard with our kits is a 1330 size yoke (middle size). The 1330 yoke is the most common size yoke used when a transmission has a 31 spline output shaft.
When required due to big horsepower, we can supply a 1350 (biggest size)slip yoke with 1350 front and rear ujoints.
The common stock size ujoint found on our cars is a 1310 (smallest size).
31 spline slip yokes do not come in the 1310 size (unless it is a custom yoke). This is why, for our stock TKO driveshafts, we use a 1330 yoke in the front and a 1310 in the rear to match up with your stock rear pinion yoke.
If a customer tells us he has a 1330 rear pinion yoke we will stay with our standard 1330 front yoke. If a customer has a 1350 pinion yoke, we will provide a driveshaft with 1350 slip yoke so everything matches.

Jeff,
Thanks for clearing that up. I could have swore mine had 1350 front and back. Can you look up my invoice from when I bought mine from you guys and see what I had indicated for the driveshaft front/rear joints?? it was ordered around 1/20/05 timeframe

We'll, I intend to carry the front wheels of my car through the whole '60, so I figure this is cheap insurance don't you?

Good point about doing it once, I have this ability to do things many times when they should been done once.
