Did this upgrade 3 years ago on my 71 with no problems. Just did the same upgrade on the 72 Elco and it starts and runs fine, but the motor will not shut off with the key? I have an ignition switch for the MSD box, so I can kill it that way. I wired it correctly and looped the old regulator harness per MAD's web site instuctions.

You need a diode in one of the lines from the alternator. The MSD website has instructions..

I have the diode, but not sure which wire I am to connect it to?
I believe I have a blue and a white going to the altenator.
Terminal 1 or 2 with internal regulator?

Where does MSD tell you to install the diode?

Terminal one with a internally regulated alternator. Diodes are a one way valve for electricity, be sure to install it correctly.

I got it, wired it inline with the jumper wire I used for the old external regulator harness. Drove it to work tonight with no problems.
