My reaction times were a lot better when I raced in july,But my best time was a 14.1 .I am real happy with today and its really astreet car(drove on a 400 mile trip couple weeks ago)but I cant help but woner what a shifter, some lower gears and a little weight loss would do!I am not real good at analizing these times but where do you see my strengths and what can be worked on.Team chevelle and all I have learned here deserve a little credit too!:beers:Videos tomorrow:hurray:

yep the 12 sec barrier is awesome for a street car of our weights .... I had a 72 monte that went 12.90 at 104.8 with a small cam and vortec heads. 3:31 gears oh yeah and it was a small block 355:beers:

Congrats John!

I was there a few months back (see the vid below). Improved since. With a good burnout, I can get 1.7 60' Have Konis, new rear coils, and BFG DRs....nothing else needed. I will get the rear air bags in and have at it before winter sets in here.

Work on that 60'......big dividends in the ET. What have you done for chassis prep? What tires? Pressures?
With your engine, I'd have added some more cam, JMHO. Pretty small cam for a built 454.
Again, very respectable to have a full wt car running 12s!

As far as the chassis basically boxed rear control arms added rear frame braces, stock replacement shocks and springs.Up front is all bone stock with original small block springs.I will prob do a cam swap this winter.I really think more rpms may be helpful I only looked for a second but I seemed to be crossing @5,100 rpm. Thanks for the comments.P.s. 275/60 m/t drag radials @18psi

My first time there.Wish I had a home track as it is at least 2 hours to any track.Since its your home track you may know of the tension there yesterday.Seems a couple guy were running for $5,000. there was a malfunction w the tree .People were yelling screaming etc.I thought there was going to be an all out brawl!

John you will want to check a couple things. 5100 rpm for 108 mph w/ 3.31 gears and 28" tire nets out 18.9% converter slip. See you are running a HEI - what tach, factory or aftermarket?? I had to get a filter from MSD for the tach lead to correct my factory tach. It was reading high by about 8%. Converter slip in the 8-10% range is more probable which puts you rpm at traps in the 4700 range. Peak HP for your motor should occur at 4800, so you are right on track. As for shifting, what RPM does it shift at now? You can play with the modulator to set shift points.
