You might want to narrow the application down somewhat as an Impala rear isn't going to bolt into a Chevelle.
Get the code from the passenger side axle tube and post it.
well i saw it rearend...just wasnt thinking about getting the #s off of it. I know its out of a chevelle/monte carlo/ect.

A chevelle 12 Bolt for $250, even if it is a Non Posi, is a very good deal. If you pass, I will buy it.

Are you SURE?

Are you sure its a "Chevy" 12-bolt or an "Oldsmobile" with 12 cover bolts? I once bought an Olds 12-bolt rearend, direct bolt-in into my Chevelle (same ears and bracket locations), but its not a Heavy Duty rearend like the Chevy 12-bolt...

If you aren't sure, try to pull the cover and pull an axle... Chevys are C-Clip and Olds are have an axle retention plate behind the brake drum... Chevys also have the inverted "V" stamped into the cover...

Also search this site for a list of the "Chevelle" casting numbers, bring that list with you and go look at the numbers...

If its an open rear Chevy 12-bolt, then its a decent price...

Oldsmobile "twelve bolts" use the same appearing center section. however the ring gear is attached by ten bolts, not twelve. If it has the original rear cover it is not ribbed around the perimeter between the bolt holes. Many BOP rear ends also retained their axleshafts with bolts on the outside, similar to Ford, instead of using C clips. Most often these Olds "twelve bolts" were in 68-69-70? cutlass type of cars.

i went to look at it again..ran the #s and it turns out to be a open 2.73. I didnt pull the diff cover yet but it has the inverted V designed into it. The axle code was CKD i believe which puts it as a 1970 housing. Ill prob go pick it up next week sometime if all goes well.
