Hello all
Trying to figure out which rear ended housing bushings to use, rubber or poly, with the umi roto joint type bushing in the frame end. Ive read a bit about binding with all poly, but not sure if that binding still exists with the roto at the other end? Will a rubber bushing diminish performance notably?

my goal for the car is street only, but well handling as I have the scc stage 2 front end that works very well for my needs.

I actually just ended up going through this. Had poly in all 4 positions at the rear from when I replaced my control arms probably 10 or more years ago.

Recently, I replaced some parts and I kept my adjustable uppers and installed spherical joints in the housing ears and lower control arms with spherical joints aswell. So, end state being poly in the upper frame position and spherical joints in the other 3 positions. All from ridetech. With the car on stands and no sprngs or shocks installed, the articulation without binding just moving it by hand was impressive to say the least.

If you have not already, you might want to look at what you’re using for bushings in the lowers as well. I’m not saying you need spherical joints but one of the positions should be able to have some movement. I think rubber would be fine.

But, to answer your question:

In the upper control arm position, a mix of a spherical joint and rubber or poly on the other end will be fine. You just need some give somewhere to allow articulation. Which is what the spherical joint is accomplishing.

I’m going with spherical at one end and poly the other as that didn’t seem to cause any debate.

i appreciate the input all.

I used Johnny Joints from Currie in my rear upper arms and they work great. Used Poly in the other ends. Car corners like on rails, so you should be good to go.
