Anybody running one of the 12-bolt aluminum dropout centers for a Ford 9" housing? They are a little lighter and are a little more efficient. I'm running an LS1 in a 66 Nova and given the low overall weight of the Nova, it just doesn't seem like a nodular 9" center section is necessary (cost wise I think its pretty much a wash). Anyone know of any cons for this swap? Thanks. -Bob

In this months Popular Hot Rodding they do a build up of a 9 in. and in it they say the aluminum center section is good for road course racing and the iron center section is better for straight line racing due to shock loads and stresses placed on the center section. I don't have any actual experience with either so maybe some one else might be able to provide you with better information but I thought I would point out what the article said to get you started.
