The lower 1/4 panels behind the wheels and lower front fenders on my '70 are rusted. I've had people tell me to do the whole 1/4's and replace the fenders and other people say to keep as much original metal as I can and weld in patch panels. I've seen some replacement fenders that looked like crap. What to do, what to do........

Heres some pictures of my 70 with goodmark fenders. These aftermarket junk fenders fit BETTER then the OEM fenders. Original sheet metal does not mean its a guaranteed fit. This era of vehicles were built with huge tolerances and no two cars are alike nor its parts.
Did the repro parts look like crap because the person whom installed them didnt know how to fit or adjust parts?

Thanks for the pics. Your's look really good. I'd be more than satisfied with those.

The ones I saw looked bulged out over the front tires. Every panel on the car didn't fit worth a crap. The guy showed me an appraisal for $21K. The area around the trunk hinges was rusted and sprayed with POR15. He wanted $18K. Good 350 with a T350 and 10 bolt non-posi. Glad I passed on it.

You are going to find a lot of rust lurking under there. Where the wheel house meets the quarter panel is often in need of repair. Under vinyl roofs is another danger area. If you do the whole quarter you will be able to clean and repair everything underneath easily. Then you a new unpatched piece with no seams anywhere. And a lot less work to prep and paint with no seams to grind and smooth etc.

The wheelhouses and extensions seem pretty solid for what I can see and feel from the trunk. I'll probably end up doing full 1/4's anyway. Might as well do it right. I'm in no hurry.
