I Have A Complete Chevy Small Block 010 Motor & I Took Off The Oil Pan And Its A 2 Bolt Main,
I Have Been Told That a 010 2 Bolt Main That Has Been Machined & MADE INTO A 4 Bolt Main Is Stronger Then A Factory 4 Bolt Main Because There Is More Meat On The Blocks Of A 2 Bolt Main, Is This True?? Is It Worth It?, Or Should I Start Off With A True 4 Bolt?,

Thank For Your Help,

Mike

Absolutely true--IF (big IF) the 4-bolt main caps have splayed outer bolts; AND the machine work was done correctly.

If you're just installing "ordinary" straight-bolt caps, expect "ordinary" strength.

Why do you capitalize the first letter of every word?

A 4 bolt or 2 bolt with splayed caps is stronger then the factory straight 4 bolt caps as splayed caps tie the pan rails into the webbing of the block making for much stronger peice when your done.

If you plan on having that work done have it sonic tested to make sure you have a good peice before you start and don't by core shilft!!!!!!!!!!
