Klemme Classic Car sales, Davenport Iowa, sticker $19,900. Cowl tag indicates mftr 307ci. No history available from Klemme. Klemme is slacker but have name address of last owner to use. Bought sight unseen. Additional investigative photos requested for underneath and steering wheel. Steering wheel cracked and replaced with available SS wheel at my cost ($350.00)
1972 Chevrolet Malibu 2 door Coupe (Masenne Blue with Blk. SS stripes)
Most things (big) aftermarket. 350ci small block with Edelbrock Performer 1405 carburetor with Performer Aluminum intake. Still playing with Carb, idling it higher to run with A/C and keep running on hard turns and sudden stops. Second gear has some torque but need a lot more. Don't know hp but gets into 90's well (Have court on 29th!). A/C works great but pinhole leak in condenser prevents use. Plugged it once with JB Weld and it worked like a champ on these hot, 100 degree S.C. days. Not sure, aluminum solder needed? Chrome valve covers, fuel pump, timing cover, and T converter cover. Inline visible fuel filter. Dual exhaust with stock manifolds and Flowmaster mufflers.
Stock with exception of cassette radio, aftermarket engine temp/amp/oil pressure gages below ashtray in black metal panel, SS steering wheel, new carpet and headliner per code. Original vinyl interior in outstanding shape with small seam sept. at top left corner Driver's seat.
Only mods SS stripes. Rear bumper dipped at sometime. Klemme included door gaskets and v-belt. Some door bumpers also. Have water leaks at front windshield above driver and passenger. Need to remove trim to use epoxy, not sure how. Vinyl top recent or well kept original (underneath some bumps above passenger front, but no leaks on headliner.
Cassette radio does not track but radio outstanding (aftermarket) and used existing Din. Two 6x9 under dash hanging in wire tie baskets, are strong. Will move (bundled with lots of speaker wire) to rear package tray. Have DC converter to run CD, GPS, etc. off of cigarette lighter.
Front upper and lower control arms with shocks and springs. Front sway bar attached to front frame and lower control arms. Power assisted Steering. Rear susp. also shocks and springs with rear sway bar.
Wheel and Tire
Original steel wheels with rally chrome set's of trim ring, dog bowel, and GM engraved center domes with cap's on each wheel. As delivered had Winston Winner RWL on all four wheels. Due to bad alignment fronts wore outside edge to metal belts. Fronts replaced with Goodrich TA's RWL P255/60R15/102S. Winston rear tires, P275/60R15/107S, are good and not replaced. Drum brakes have had new shoes and springs installed all around. Pulls strongly to left when medium braking still. May look at new cylinder's for passenger side. Should be less than driving a tank then. Although could be proportioning valve problem. Garages here are basically ignorant about anything built before 2000. They will keep replacing parts till something works and it cost you $300.00 just for shop towels.
