General Information

PS, Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Windows, Air Conditioning, Tilt Wheel, AM Radio with Rear Speaker, Front and Rear Bumper Guards, Tinted Windows, Rally Wheels with Redline Tires, Turbo 400 Transmission
The car was purchased by Violet Doras in Montebello California in July of 1968. She was built at the Fremont plant the 3rd week of May 1968. Violet drove the car from 1968 until 1995 (27 years) She was 47 when she purchased the car and 75 when her family sold the car to Sean Barrett in California. Sean owned the car for 15 years and sold the car in 2010. I am the third owner and a friend had it brought to Louisville Kentucky. I began a restoration in January 2013 when I retired after 40 years of working in the Airline Industry. The restoration was completed July of 2015 and I have enjoyed showing the car at local and National car shows around the country.

I am very fortunate because Violet save every piece of paperwork while she owned the car. I have the original Window Sticker, Sales Contract, Bill of Sale, Protect O Plate, Temp California Registration, Temp California Paper plates, Original California Black Plates and the Envelope that the Black Plates were sent to Violets house in.
1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS (Groto Blue)

The car retains its original 396 engine which has been rebuilt twice. Once while the original owner had the car and again during the restoration. It has now been bored 60 over and the heads have the components to run on todays less than desirable fuel. All the components under the hood have been restored to original condition.
The Interior in this SS is a trim tag code 765-158 Buick Deluxe Bench Seat. A strike buy the GM interior supplier cause the Fremont, Kansas City and Baltimore plants to run low on Chevelle interiors. To prevent a stoppage of delivery GM authorized the use of B.O.P. Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac interiors but only in the color Black. This Chevelle is one of these strike cars that were effected for a three month period in 1968 Mar, Apr and May.
The Exterior is Stock with no Modifications
The Stock AM Radio that came with the car.
The car has the stock suspension with everything rebuilt. The front disc brakes were restored to the original style 4 piston calipers and the exhaust system is from Gardner Exhaust. The Original Turbo 400 was rebuilt and the car still retains its original 12 bolt non posi rear with 3.07 gears.
Wheel and Tire
The car retains its 5 original Rally Wheels with reproduction trim rings and Rally caps. I have the originals and plan to have them restored some day.
