I bought the 71 Chevelle for a premium in August 2019. I see other Chevelle's now for a lot less for project car condition like the one I have. Oh well. learning lesson of course. No engine ,transmission or any engine accessories. No interior other than dash panel. Currently, I have the car stripped and blasted with a coat of primer. I started with the frame blast and coated with POR 15, including rear end and suspension control arms front and rear. I added disk brakes in the front and have the rear set of disk brakes in a box waiting install. I bought a 6.0 LQ4 Vortec engine with 4L80E transmission that I am still working on. I added a Summit Cam SUM 8712, but the rest a stock. I just finished shaving the intake for a better look than "ugly" stock.
1971 Chevrolet Chevelle (White)
Vortec 6.0 LQ4 with Summit 8712 single stage cam and Holley 302-2 oil pan.
No interior yet. I am looking at an SS gauge assembly, but exploring other possibilities including just keeping the Malibu dash and adding the under dash gauges for temp, rpm, oil pressure. The original interior paint was green. I will be painting the exterior black (gloss or satin) and interior possibly a silver color. Seats will be bucket type, but I am looking for a good set of seats from a late model chevy.
Blasted and primed. Looking at gloss or satin black for final color. Single Stage or Two Stage base coat / clear is the question. I plan to do the paint and body myself.
front and rear disk brakes.
Wheel and Tire
Rollers only at this point until I figure out my options.
